SARASOTA COUNTY – The Legacy Trail will be featured on the Weather Channel’s “The Great Outdoors” on Friday.
The program is scheduled for 9:10 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 12:40 p.m., 1:40 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
A film crew spent two days interviewing residents, visitors and county staff about the hiking and bicycling trail along former railroad tracks between Palmer Ranch in Osprey and a trail along the Intracoastal Waterway in Venice.
“The word has gotten out that The Legacy Trail in Sarasota County is one of the best recreational experiences in the country,” Carolyn Brown, director of Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, said in an announcement about the national TV exposure. “We get calls from bike clubs, running clubs and nature lovers from all over the world and they all want to know more about The Legacy Trail.”
Opened in 2008, the nearly 10-mile-long Legacy Trail is the largest public recreation project constructed in Sarasota County. The trail offers seven trailheads that include restrooms, water fountains and parking.
At the northernmost entrance is Culverhouse Nature Park and at the southern end is the historic Venice train depot, which serves as a local museum and county bus station.
The Friends of The Legacy Trail, a local volunteer group, offers assistance to users and estimates that 10,000 people a week visit the trail.
“The Legacy Trail is one of the most popular park attractions in Sarasota County,” said Mike Gippert, president of The Friends of The Legacy Trail. “It is so popular that right now we are working on a study to expand the trail to the north, connecting it with Manatee County.”

OPPORTUNITIES – Inventory of available homes for sale is thin. This is especially true in the under $400,000 niche’. If you’re considering selling your home, now is a good to consider putting it on the market.
RISKS – Interest rates are increasing, and if this continues, this could put cold water on our market very quickly. At play is the philosophy of the Federal Reserve in propping up the economy via stimulus. There’s a good and bad here – we’re getting a short term “high” by this artificially stimulating the economy, but sooner or later we’ll have to pay for this strategy.
WHAT TO DO – We at Florida Home Team will provide, free of charge, a market analysis of your home along with suggestions on how to optimize value should you decide to sell.
Furthermore, we do not have “administrative fees” that you often see from real estate brokers. Ask us how we can absolutely contribute to earning you more when selling your home.

We all have had the experience of someone important coming to the house, and whether the visitor is an in-law, old friend, or business associate you know the drill: Have the house in “show” condition.
For home sellers the situation is much the same: First impressions count and while you may not be able to tell a book by its cover, you’ll likely pay more for a book if the cover is inviting, alluring and attractive.
If your home is for sale or soon to be for sale, in addition to a general cleaning there are steps you can take to benefit from that all-important first look:
If you are considering selling your home, please give consideration to contacting one of our agents prior to making a final decision in broker selection.
It’s our top priority to earn more money for you!
